UR, by Stephen King
I am totally digging on my new Kindle (from amazon). I have a nice case for it a light for night time reading, I even got a decorative skin for it to make it more personal.
I am usually on the amazon site 1-3 x a week looking up books for it (love the recommended for you, and occasional free downloads.). Well the other day I came across UR, by Stephen King with the following description, (and could not resist it)….
Amazon.com Review
Since his first novel was published in 1974, Stephen King has stretched the boundaries of the storyteller as a writer who constantly redefines his readers’ experience by working in various genres and formats . Whether in an epic horror novel, like THE STAND, a serial-novel like THE GREEN MILE, or a novella like SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, King is able to deliver a reading experience like no one else can. As quickly as a spider spins its web, King reminds us why he’s the master of the novella – a format which, up until now that is, one might have thought is fast disappearing. In his new novella, UR, King is at his unsettling best as he examines the future of the written word – for better or worse. Following a nasty break-up, lovelorn college English instructor Wesley Smith can’t seem to get his ex-girlfriend’s parting shot out of his head: “Why can’t you just read off the computer like the rest of us?” Egged on by her question and piqued by a student’s suggestion, Wesley places an order for Amazon.com’s Kindle eReader. The [pink?] device that arrives in a box stamped with the smile logo -via one-day delivery that he hadn’t requested – unlocks a literary world that even the most avid of book lovers could never imagine. But once the door is open, there are those things that one hopes we’ll never read or live through. Firm, gripping, and deftly written by a craftsman at the top of his game, this is King at his crisp, clear, page-turning best. Download and read UR only on Kindle.
SO… I am currently reading this… will give you my thoughts when I am done!
OK well I finished it… it was a short story (cost was about 2.00) but well worth the money and time to read if you enjoy Stephen King and I highly recommend it if you own a Kindle (as I do)… Ok off to my next book.

Apple has just come out with Ipad with competitive pricing and better features for their entry level model. Do you think this will affect the Kindle market? Thanks
February 2nd, 2010 at 4:26 pmI love my kindle! I enjoy the paper that has no glare issues, and the free / unlimited access to the Kindle store from practically anywhere! I also own an ipod touch, were I did start off using the Kindle App at first, but it was small, and the glare from it was not comfortable on my eyes and seemed to tire them out a lot faster then reading a normal book (or e paper). I do not fear for the Kindle market as far as books are concerned with the release of the Ipad (which is lets be honest just the Itouch made larger!) and had the kindle app available. It may cause some slow down in the actual sale of the kindle it’s self, and it may not once it’s actually launched, I myself do not feel the need to have a larger version of something I already own (the Itouch) nor would I want to have to pay the monthly fee to be able to download books while traveling, I pay enough for cell phone and data as it is I don’t want to have to pay to download my book that I am already paying for. So you would pay 200.00 more for the Ipad vs. the Kindle, and then a monthly fee to be able to download books, or get internet access, there is the issue of the glare as I believe the Ipad will have the same display as the Itouch, and with all the people out there that already own an Itouch, will they want a larger more expensive version?
I am married to a man who is into research, and technology! He purchased me the kindle 2 based on what I wanted out of an e reader, he himself was holding out for the Ipad, but as of right now he is very disappointed in the fact that is it basically a larger version of the Itouch, so he is now looking into the Jojo, he wants more then just an e reader. I on the other hand own a laptop when I wanna do internet/computer stuff I use it, I have an Itouch for games/apps/music, when I wanna read I am down for reading time and prefer my lightweight slick easy to use Kindle 2, I love that if we are camping and I finish a book I just log on and buy a new one, and I didn’t kill a tree for it, or have to use gas to go buy it! Most importantly I didn’t have to leave the fire side
.
Bottom line I am a big Kindle fan I have played with and tried several other e readers, I am also a very big Apple fan and feel that each are good for their purposes and avid readers will probably still prefer the kindle to the Ipad, I know I do!
