Leather or Spandex ... please share the road!

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks

This was emailed to me from a "biker" friend of mine at work and I wanted to post it because he and I were talking and we both feel it doesn't matter if the bike is motorized or pedalized (my word) or if you are wearing leather or spandex...we share the same concerns with other motorist. So please remember this and SHARE THE ROAD! The minute you might think you are saving by driving fast, could end a life...

THE BIKER

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line.

But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk.

But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant.

But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I rode by.

But, you didn't see me, riding behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children.

But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you, stare at my long hair.

But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather jackets and gloves.

But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old ones to those that had none.

I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos.

But, you didn't see me, cry as my children were born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.

But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family.

I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.

But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car.

But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road.

But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you, race down the road in the rain.. But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time. But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.

I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in.

But, you didn't see me, leave the road.

I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.

But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you, go home to your family.

But, you didn't see me.

Because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family.

But, you didn't see me.

Re-send this around in hopes that people will understand the biker community.

Devon and the Wii (in his underwear)

So normally I am the one yelling at the kid "no video games they make you lazy" .  Now with Devon's new birthday present I am singing a different tune!  Let me tell you even Brian and I are having fun with the new Wii!  So far we only have the game that came with the system but we haven't gotten bored yet.  I did go to Game Stop today and got Brian a used game called "Mini Desktop Racing" he hasn't played it yet, seeing as he JUST got home from his 32 mile bike ride, but it looks like lot of Mini Coopers racing on desktops.  O - Yes I know Devon's birthday is not until the 26th but since the kid is leaving on the 29th to go to WV for the summer we wanted him to have a chance to play with the system before he left.  (Yep Amber was NICE! don't faint).  I am hoping for the Wii FIT, Jessi has it and it was SOOOO much fun, I even worked up a major sweat!

FRIDAY THE 13TH.

Ok so I LOVE weird things you guys know this already and one of my favorite days is Friday the 13th! Unfortunately I think to many people go into it thinking it's a BAD omen.... Well if you go into something with a negative attitude then usually negative things happen. So is the Friday that falls on the 13th really bad, or is it that we are looking for bad things on this day that truly make it bad?

My HOT man...

This is my HOT man.... literally HOT that is he finished a 45+ min race in about 95 degree weather on a black top course.

Of course I still think he is HOT no matter what! He got 4th place I am so proud of him!

My Weekend

IMG_1668.JPGSo my weekend was going to start off good... got out of work about an hour early called the kid told him I was on my way to get him early so we could go out to dinner.  Five min later my weekend is ruined!  Driving my husband's brand new Mini Cooper S ... and a lady over the age of 80 slams into me!  Both parties are ok and only the vehicles are wrecked.  The worst part she stated she did not hit me! So I had to call the cops and get them involved... she tried to drive away I had to follow her to get her to pull over (I wanted to be were the accident happened to prove were she was coming out from). So now it's in the hands of the insurance company... haven't even made the first payment on that car!!! So my point is... why is there not tougher test on people over say 75 or 80 to ensure they are safe to be on the road.  I mean how do you HIT someone and NOT know it?  Standing out waiting for the cop to finish the paperwork showed me more reason to wonder if this woman should be driving.  She was very sweet, and kind (her story changed when the cop arrived), but she told me the same story about her life more then once with in a short period of time, and asked me the same question several times.  Was this a sign of something else wrong... When I am 80 PLEASE do not let me drive.  Not only for the safety of others but for the safety of myself as well. Driving is insane now I can NOT imagine how it will be with slower reflexes and decreased contrast vision, color vision, and clarity of vision.  (Pre-Cataract Surgery is worse) .  Thankful my husband loves me and has not been mean to me since the incident happened I have been more upset then him... re playing the entire event to see if I could have done anything differently ... I can see were I could have changed the outcome of these events ... except to not get out of work early!!  I will put pictures on soon to show you the damage of both cars (I always have a camera for me to be safe!).
